All hail Prince Baxter!

Yes, it's finally come true, I've received the title that I so richly deserve.  I'm a Prince.  And I've got a certificate to prove it!  My school ran a contest last week in honor of National Dog Day.  The winner was going to be crowned King/Queen of the School.  Sadly, I didn't win King, but I was awarded the title of Prince instead.  (I think it's actually better 'cause I don't have to actually have the responsibility of ruling and can just enjoy my importance).  Here's the Royal Annoucement:  Prince Baxter

I've been working on getting people to bow to me, but so far it hasn't really been working.  And as much as I have been trying, Ferb does not respond with "Correct as usual, Prince Baxter" when I greet him in the hallway with "Ferb, I presume".  The best part, though, is that I won a free day at daycare.  Yippie!

In order to get this great honor, mommy and daddy wrote a song about it.  Here's the lyrics (sing along if you'd like, I'm sure you'll recognize the tune):

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tail
The tail of a dog that's waggin'
The best dog that you’ll ever find
And no, I’m not just braggin'.

Our hero is a big-boned dog,
A puggle brave and sure
Two meals he's s'posed to have a day,
But he eats three or four, eats three or four.

Each week he plays with his doggie friends
Dogtopia is "da bomb"
Yet at baxterthepuggle.com,
Still he has the time to blog, the time to blog.

At school he sniffs and runs and plays
With Annabelle,
And Poncho too,
The Yorkie and the Pug,
The Bassett Hound,
The Terrier and Scoutie, too
At White Flint Dogtopia.

So this is the tale of our good dog,
Baxter's a loyal, loyal bud
He is the king of our condo,
And in town, quite the stud.

Baxter's hugs and kisses too
Will bring you to your knees
And he'll be your friend forever
If you feed him cheese.

No growling, no biting,
Not a single bad habit
Like Lassie or Rin Tin Tin,
He's the best dog on the planet.

So join Baxter here each week my friends,
(But watch out for the drool)
The King of Dog Day should he be,
Here at Baxter's school.

What'chu talkin' 'bout Daddy?

I guess I'm not allowed to get my own snacks anymore.  Daddy says so.  Mommy and daddy keep my chews in a bookcase by the door.  It's exactly at Baxter height, so I can help myself whenever I want some.  Last night I helped myself to 3 pieces.  I guess that was too many 'cause daddy caught me.  He said I can't do it anymore.

BAXTER

Mommy got me a new shirt. She bought it for me a while ago, but it has been too hot for me to wear it. The weather has been much cooler this week, though. My new shirt has my name on the back. I'm not really sure why. I already know my name. And besides, when it's on, I can't see it. Guess if I tried out for football it would be useful. But if I were a football player, I'd want a name like "Killer" on my shirt...

The Way Back

I'm at school today.  Getting there was an adventure.  Normally in the car, I sit in my own seat (with a seat belt) right behind daddy's seat.   Today, though, I decided I was going to sit in the way back of the mini van.  My lunch got to ride in my seat!  I spread out across the seats and chewed my beef tendon.  Lots of fun!

Also, I learned something pretty important today.  Even if the closet door is open and mommy's sewing box (which has lots of fun stuff in it) is sitting on the floor, one should not chew on a package of needles.  Don't worry, I didn't get hurt, but daddy got poked when he pulled the package from my mouth.

Shhhh

When I'm sleeping I like to be left alone. I also don't like it when there is light around to disturb my sleep.

Sister Baxter?

I'm thinking of trying out for a role as one of the nuns in The Sound of Music.  What do you think?  I could totally pull it off, right?  I think I'll go work on my rendition of "Climb Every Mountain."

Camping.

Note the lack of the exclamation point after Camping in the title.  It symbolizes how I feel about it.  I hate it!  Mommy and daddy don't seem to understand.  Or more likely, don't care.  They insist on dragging me outside and forcing me to sleep in a thin piece of nylon in a sleeping bag on top of an air mattress.  They know that we have a perfectly good house, bed, and down comforter at home.

The only good part about camping is being able to go for walks at night.  In the dark.  With only my keen sense of smell to guide us.   Well, I guess there was mommy's flashlight, too.

Okay, so it was a little cool.  (Mommy's new camera works really well in the dark!)

The other good part (I guess there are two) is the food.  Mommy and daddy let me clean the plate after they were done.  I marked it with my stamp of approval.  (So maybe you don't have to stand on plates to stop them from moving around while you're trying to eat, but I suppose you also have thumbs, right?)

When I got home, I was very happy to see my bed just as I had left it.  I took a well-deserved nap.

Dog days!

Over the weekend, mommy and daddy and I went to a doggy festival in a nearby city. It was lots of fun because I got to see all kinds of other doggies. It was not so much fun because I had to dress up. As a flower.

Yes, there were lots of people who thought I was a girl! It was horrible! People kept asking "what's her name?" How embarrassing!

And the worst part? I didn't even win a prize. First prize went to some little tiny dog dressed as Elvis. This is me looking upset about not winning.

Packages!

Mommy and daddy (but mostly mommy) gets lots of packages. Sometimes the packages contain presents for me as well. This week, they got some new dishes, which were wrapped in cool stuff for Baxter the Puggle and Ferb the Cat!

Ferb had a great time playing in the brown paper, while I enjoyed playing with the bubble wrap.

Mommy's lazy

I know, I haven't posted lately.  I've got lots of good ideas for updates on my life and I keep telling them to mommy, but she's just been too lazy to actually post them.  It's sort of a drag.  And I'm caught in the middle of it.  I've been trying to convince her that she has to be more responsible and she has agreed to try.  I guess that's all I can ask for.

Anyways, yesterday I was trying to take a nap on the bed after mommy and daddy had closed it for the day.  Ferb was bugging me and kept trying to get me to play with him.  Sometimes little brothers are a pain 'cause all I wanted to do was sleep and he just wouldn't leave me alone.
