Treat or Treat!

Mommy says I'm supposed to say "trick or treat" but I don't want a trick, just a treat.  I celebrated Halloween in my usual way, going to a party at my school with all of my friends!  We hung out in school and had some doggy treats!

I got to wear my costume -- a pig this year -- and only one person thought I was a girl this year!  Next year I'm going to talk to mommy about not dressing me in pink.

When I got home, though, I was really tired.  I had way too much fun playing with my school friends.

Now, about those treats.  I need some soon.  Remember, I've got my eye on you!

Going on a Road Trip

And guess what I took along?  Ferbie!  Ferb doesn't usually get to go places, but mommy and daddy decided to take him along to Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark's house last weekend.

Here we are in the car.  I had to sit in my seat, but Ferbie got to walk around the car a little bit.  He liked to sit in the beds in the way-back of the van.

He had a good time riding in the car.  He got to see a lot of stuff and mommy and daddy even let him walk outside while he was wearing his harness (a hand-me-down from yours truly) and a leash.  So mommy walked Ferb and daddy walked me at the rest stop.  Lots of fun!

He spent most of the time at Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark's in the guest bedroom 'cause my doggy cousins Jacob and Sterling are the size of horses and Ferb was kind of a scaredy cat around them.  Scaredy cat -- get it?

Hold this for me, will you?

My Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ray visited me a couple of weeks ago.  They came to visit me on an airplane from Wisconsin.  I hadn't seen them since last year when I wore a tuxedo at mommy and daddy's wedding.

I like having Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ray around because they pay more attention to me than mommy and daddy.  Grandpa Ray was willing to sit on the couch and hold my chews for me while I tackled the chewing part.  Mommy and daddy never would have done that for me.  It was a fun week with Grandma and Grandpa and I hope they come back and visit us soon!

My brother, the genius

Ferbie is pretty smart.  Mommy and daddy found him reading in (their) bed a couple of nights ago.  I guess he was just relaxing before bedtime.

He was reading a book that daddy had borrowed from the library.

Mommy says she's going to have Ferbie explain physics to her after he finishes reading the book.

I enjoy quiet walks on the beach...

Over the weekend, mommy and daddy and I went to on a hike.  I had a great time running through the woods and smelling things.  And checking out the little streams along the way.

Nevertheless, I was always on a mission to get to the end of the trail.  I didn't know what was at the end, but I was excited anyways.  Imagine my surprise when we came out of the woods and saw a beach with sand and lots of water!

I played in the water.

And got to dig in the sand!   Digging was a lot of fun because mommy and daddy don't let me do it at home.

Only problem was that I also needed to smell while I was digging.  Sand up the nose makes me sneeze!

All in all, I had a good time on our hike and at the beach!

Where's the Pizza?

Last weekend, mommy and daddy had pizza one night for dinner.  I like pizza.  A lot.  So after mommy set the "table", I waited patiently for daddy to come home with my pizza.

Apparently, though, pizza is not for puppies.  The fact that mommy only had room for two to eat should have tipped me off.  Sadly, I had dog food for dinner.

Watchin' Football with the Guys

Daddy, Ferb, and I had a guys' night last night.  The Steelers were on the TV (that doesn't happen all the time here in Maryland) and so we all hung out on the couch watching TV.

A bonding night with the men watching football was just what I needed.  Especially the snacks that go with it.

Guess what I am not going as for Halloween?

I know.  It's a bit of a strange predicament that I found myself in this evening.

I decided to check out Ferb's play structure.  Mommy warned me that it doesn't support my weight, but she didn't say anything about me getting stuck in it.

Help!

Tug of War

Sometimes when I am bored, I have to find my own fun.  Although I'll usually try to get mommy or daddy (or even Ferb) to play with me, occasionally I have to find a way to entertain myself.  Usually in these sorts of circumstances I turn to chewing something, but a couple nights ago I found a fun alternative.

The belt from mommy's robe is so much fun!  I love to play with it.  As an added bonus, I learned how to close the door and lock Ferb in the bathroom!

Meeting My Neighbors!

Last week was National Night Out.  As part of the celebration, my condo had a dog gathering.  I got to meet a bunch of my neighbor doggies that I hadn't met before.

As usual, I assumed my position for meeting new friends.

All in all, a pretty good night for me.  New friends, treats, some time outside.

My Brother!

This is Mack.  He's my brother.  Not my brother like Ferb, but my REAL brother.  We have the same birthday and the same doggy mommy and doggy daddy.  Mack and his family just moved into my condo complex.  Mommy, daddy, and I were out talking a walk this evening and we ran into Mack and his mommy.  The mommies figured out that Mack and I were brothers.  Pretty cool, huh?  Now we're neighbors!  We have the same good looks, don't you think?

The Couch!

Do you see something different in this picture?  Mommy and daddy cleaned the carpet today.  And they moved all the furniture off of it.  Of course, that means that Ferb and I had to move with the couch as well.  It gave us a slightly different perspective on the world, I think.  We watched mommy and daddy closely as they cleaned the carpet and made sure that they put the furniture back where it belongs.

Is it almost Bedtime?

I'm a big fan of bedtime.  Sometimes I even decide to go to bed before mommy and daddy.

I just curl up in the pillows with my caterpillar and go to sleep.  Unfortunately, when mommy and daddy come to bed, they make me move out of my comfy little nest.  Some nonsense about how I'm not allowed to sleep on their pillows.  I don't understand -- I got here first.

Fireworks?

I don't get it.  This year we were at my Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark's house and we could see fireworks from their lawn.  Why do you people insist on shooting things up in the air that make noise and flash bright lights? This was my first year being around fireworks and I've decided I don't like them.  I don't like loud noises and I don't like bright lights.  I'll pass on future 4th of July celebrations.

Except for the food.  I like hamburgers and hot dogs.

Hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend!

My weekend

I had a fun -- but tiring -- weekend.  Mommy, daddy, and I went to visit Grandma Nancy, Grandpa Mike, Aunt Heather, Uncle Mark, Aunt Sara, and Uncle John in Pittsburgh!  I also got to visit with all my doggy cousins.

The best day of the weekend was Sunday -- I got to go for a ride on my Grandpa Mike's boat!  I put on my life jacket and shades and we set off for a fun ride.

My cousins, Jacob and Sterling, had the front of the boat with my Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark.

And Daddy and I sat near Grandpa to help him navigate.

Eventually, though, I found a Baxter-sized seat of my own near the back of the boat.

After a while, we all started getting a little sleepy, though.  Sterling was the first to fall asleep.

I found a place underneath a seat and closed my eyes for a little nap, too.

All in all, a fun (and relaxing) ride on Grandpa Mike's boat!  Maybe next time Ferb can come along!

Grrr.

Yet again I was subjected to a weekend away from my temperature-controlled home, my couch, and my king sized bed.  Mommy and daddy took me to go sleep outside in a piece of nylon fabric they call a "tent".  I call it "no protection".

Here I am checking that mommy has done an adequate job securing the "tent" to the ground.  As I mentioned earlier, the "tent" is my only protection from extreme temperatures, noises in the night (especially the dogs in the campsite across the road), and bugs.

Unfortunately, the batteries in mommy's camera died on Friday night, so I don't have the photographic evidence, but I survived spending two nights and three days without air conditioning (or Ferb).  Barely.

Helping Daddy

On Sunday, we had to hang up the TV in our living room.  Daddy was the labor, Ferb was the foreman, and I was management for the project.  An equitable distribution of labor, I thought.

Ferb did a good job supervising the job.

He kept a close eye on daddy, making sure he was doing everything up to spec.

For my part, I was an excellent manager.  I managed to sit on the couch all afternoon.

Hanging Out by the Pool

Ferb and I had a relaxing weekend.  We spent most of the Saturday and Sunday sunbathing in our playroom.  The room that mommy and daddy call "The Office".

I figure we're lucky to have an indoor pool in our playroom.  Mommy says that it's a drinking fountain, not a pool, but I don't buy it.  It has water in it and the fact that it isn't big enough for us to swim in it doesn't really bother us because we don't really like to get wet.  So we'll settle for getting a drink from it when we get too hot from sunbathing.

I know it's in here somewhere....

There's a rule in our house.  I have to check all bags, boxes, or other containers coming in the door.   When mommy and daddy come home from the grocery store, they put the bags on the floor for me to perform my inspection.  I also check mommy's purse when she comes home from work.

The reason for my inspection is twofold.  Number one, food.  Sometimes there is food (like leftovers) in the bags or boxes and I need to be aware of all food (especially cheese) that enters my house.  Number two, other animals.  When Ferb came to live with us, daddy managed to sneak him in the house in his crate without me knowing.  All of a sudden, I turned around and there was a strange animal in my house.  That was unacceptable.  Since that time, I've performed my inspection for every bag, box, or other container that enters.

Birthday Presents!

I got a package in the mail addressed to me (and Ferb)!  It was from Grandma Linda and had presents for me (and Ferb)!

I tried to open it by myself, but Mommy had to help me a little bit.

Once she got the box opened, I could do the rest.

I got a couple new toys and a treat.

Ferb also got new toys and treats.

He wasn't as excited as I was to play with his new toys, but he did pose nicely with them.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

Guess what today is?

That's right.  It's my birthday!  I'm two years old today.  Since I had to go to school today, I took in treats to share with my class.

We had treat time today at school!  It was lots of fun.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Here's a picture of me (taken by my teachers at school) enjoying my birthday cookie yesterday.  Thanks to all my friends at Dogtopia for making my birthday special!

H-O-T

Wowsers!  It has been HOT the last week!  As you know, I've very sensitive to extreme temperatures.  And I consider pretty much anything out of the upper 60s and lower 70s to be extreme.  This last week it's been in the upper 70s and it has reached 80 in my bedroom.  Way too hot for me!  Mommy has been trying to come up with ways to keep me cool.  Last night, she took a wet washcloth and wrapped it around my head.

Yes, I am well aware of how silly I look.  Mommy didn't seem to care.

I'm going to lobby for more ice cream.  That's the best solution I've found so far.
