Ferb is a Tattletale!

Mommy and daddy went shopping last night and left the bag with the stuff they bought on the floor within my reach.  As usual, I had to inspect the contents of bag to see if there was anything interesting in it.  There was -- a box full of sandwich bags.  So I decided to play.  Mommy found the bags.  Rather than playing it cool like a normal little brother does, the first meow out of Ferb's mouth is "The canine did it."  (I'm not sure why he always calls me "the canine".  It kind of bugs me).

I guess even if Ferb wouldn't hadn't told on me, the fact that mommy found me with the evidence in my mouth probably would have been enough...

Playing in the Grass

Woo-wee was it hot this weekend!  I'm not a fan of being too hot or too cold, but what I really wanted to do today (and yesterday) was spend some time just playing in the grass outside.  I don't think you can see it in the video ('cause mommy used her cell phone), but I like to pick the grass with my mouth and then throw it up and let it fall on top of me.  So much fun!

Yappy Hour!

You know how many times mommy, daddy, and I will walk by a restaurant and I'll think about how cool it would be to be able to check it out?  Well, guess what?  Today I got to check out a restaurant near our house.  The local animal shelter was having a fundraiser and I got to visit and play with other dogs while mommy and daddy had drinks and dinner.  So much fun.  Until the thunderstorm.  Luckily I was able to hide under the table and stay dry until it passed.

(To see what mommy and daddy thought of the restaurant, check out their entry on their dinner blog here:  http://kariandmichaeldinner.blogspot.com/2010/06/tuesday-june-22.html)

Home Again!

I love visiting daddy's family, but I get so tired with all the traveling that I'm always happy when we get home again.  The car ride home yesterday was pretty uneventful.  I pretty much slept the whole way.

Have I mentioned how much I love air conditioning?

Snuggling with Aunt Sara

I had a very busy day today hanging out with my aunts, uncles, and cousins.  I didn't get to sleep in as long as I like to and there were so many people to pet me and play with me.  In the evening, everyone settled down to watch a movie, and I curled up with my Aunt Sara for a nap.

My cousin Sterling was napping nearby with his head on a frog.  He doesn't like me very much.  Even though he's more than twice my size, he's afraid of me.  He barks at me and runs away if I get near him.  Funny, huh?  Especially since I'm kind of 'fraid of him, too.  He kept one eye on me the whole time I was napping.

Going to Grandma's!

Mommy and daddy said that we are going to see Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Mike -- and Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark and Aunt Sara and Uncle John -- this weekend!  I'm so excited!  I love to visit them.  Mommy and daddy left me sitting at the door while they finished packing.  Their mistake -- I couldn't contain my excitement, so I had to find something to do....

My girlfriend

Apparently I have a girlfriend.  At least that's what my teachers said on my report card today.  I had a great time at school today, but Ferb has been making fun of me because of my girlfriend.

Playing with Ferb

Ferb and I have become pretty good buds and we like to play together around the house.  Our preferred game is hide and seek.  Basically, Ferb hides somewhere and then I have to find him.  Usually he gives me a clue about where he's hiding, though.  He here is under mommy and daddy's bed.

I found you!

Stop looking at me!

Sometimes when he hides, he likes to stick his paws out and try to get my attention.  Sometimes he swats at me from behind the curtains and sometimes from under the comforter.

Once I find him, then I like to chase him around the house.  We especially like to play this game when mommy and daddy are trying to go to bed.

My New Co-worker

It's my biscuit break, so I only have time for a quick post, but I thought I would share this picture of my new co-worker and me.  Our cubicles are right next to each other on daddy's desk, so (unfortunately for daddy), we spend a lot of time goofing off instead of working.

Ferb's New Toy

I'm a little upset today.  Mommy and daddy went shopping this morning and Ferb (below) got new toys.  Baxter didn't get anything.

Look at the cool thing mommy and daddy got him.  It's got a tunnel (that I can't fit through) and a cave that I can't hang out in (mommy says the weight limit doesn't accomodate me).  All those cool things to play in and all he does is lay there.

You know what the worst part of it is?  I was trying to show him all the cool things that his new toy does.  You know, kind of like a big brother is supposed to do.  And mommy and daddy put me in my crate so that Ferb could play with his new toy alone.  How rude!

Concert on the Square

Last night mommy, daddy, and I walked to the Town Square area before dinner and watched a concert!  It was lots of fun -- I got to watch the people on stage playing music and singing.  And there were a few other dogs around that I got to play with.  Most fun of all, I got to do one of my favorite things in the world -- people watch!  It was a great time.

Dog of the Week

My many exceptional qualities have been finally been recognized and I've been awarded a status I truly deserve:  Dog of the Week.  Check it out:  Dog of the Week.  The designation comes with swag, which I was very excited to check out.

The new duck was a lot of fun to play with!  I also got some treats and mommy and daddy got a magnet with my pictures on it.  And the other dogs at day care were especially nice to me!

Ferb was apparently jealous of my grand achievement because he tried to play with the empty bag, but instead got it stuck on his head.  Serves him right!  (but I can sympathize -- recall the grocery bag incident of last week).  Mommy didn't get a picture because she was trying to get it off of him, which is really too bad 'cause it was pretty funny.  I laughed a little, but I don't think he noticed.

Corn

Check it out!  Mommy gave me a yummy treat last night.  It's call corn.  At first I wasn't sure how to use it, but then mommy showed me that you could chew and eat the stuff on the outside.  It's kind of like a stick, except much more tasty.  Unfortunately, it is a bit messy and so I left pieces of corn all over the house for mommy to clean up.

Helping Daddy

Daddy had to do some home repair this afternoon -- he had to replace the dryer vent 'cause it had gotten crushed.  So, being the helpful kind of guy that I am, I also had to get in there and help him out.

Daddy tried to get me to fetch the screw driver for him, but since we didn't go over the names of tools, I couldn't do that.  (Mommy had to fetch it instead, but I don't know that she was happy about it).  Ferb tried to help out a little bit, too, but daddy said that 2 helpers was just too much.

My Walk

Today was my walk.  I was scheduled to do a 5K walk in the park to help raise money for the local animal shelter.  It started off okay -- it was hot, but me and my fellow dogs walked though the park.  I stopped at a couple of water stands throughout the walk and got a hot dog at a pit stop, too.

Unfortunately, part way through the walk, I started to get really tired and the sky began to turn an ominous color.  Mommy and daddy decided that we were going to end the walk and head home a little early.  The ice cream vendor in the park had doggie ice cream, so I got some ice cream after my walk and then we started back to the car (we had to park in the overflow parking, so it was another 1K back to the car).

The last few minutes were kind of scary, lots of thunder and lightning.  I was really tired from the walk, so Daddy picked me up and carried me to car.  Luckily, we made it just in time!  As we were leaving the park, it started raining out.

Introducing Ferb

Guess what?  I'm a big brother.  Well, I guess technically I'm a little brother since he's a month older than me.  But he's smaller than me, so I think I should be the big brother.  Ferb came to live with us today.

We're still getting used to each other and have spent a lot of time following each other around and smelling.  He also spent a lot of time under the bed this afternoon.  I'd like to play with him and I keep trying to get him to chase me, but I don't think he understands.  Instead, he just rubs up against me.

Sorry Mommy, You Lost Your Spot

This morning when mommy got up, I took her spot in bed.  It was prewarmed and besides, the rule is finders keepers, losers weepers, right?

Home from School

I had a great day at school today!  As usual, I had lots of fun playing with all the other doggies.  Today was special though, because I was also the teacher's helper.  Every dog that wants to come to my school has to pass a test, and then be interviewed by other students.  Today I was the interviewer.  I had to play with the new dog to see how he would react in a group of dogs.  It was a lot of fun -- and a big responsibility for me.   When mommy and daddy came to pick me up after school, I was excited to see them and to go home.  I even carried my lunchbox out of school all by myself.
