I Love a Parade!

Today is Memorial Day.  (You probably already knew that, I just learned about it this morning).  Memorial Days have parades and I love parades.   Luckily, the parade is a just a few blocks from our house, so mommy and daddy took me to see it.  They found a spot in the shade where I could lay down and watch.  It was fun, but I was kind of bummed that there weren't more horses and bands -- those are my favorite parts.  It was also really hot, so we left partway through so I could go home and get some water.  I had to spent most of the rest of the day sleeping because watching the parade just wore me out.

Helping!

Weekends are busy days around my house.  Mommy and daddy always seem to have lots of things they have to do.  Since I'm such a great guy, I figure I should help out every now and then.  Today mommy and daddy went grocery shopping, so I helped them unpack the groceries when they got home.  I think I may have been a bit too enthusiastic about unpacking the bag, because somehow I got stuck in it.

Mommy was also doing laundry, so I helped her fold the towels.  While still stuck in the grocery bag.  I know, I know.  The things I go through in order to help out around the house...

My Nest

Sometimes daddy (or mommy) closes the bed before I'm ready to get up in the morning/afternoon.  I really don't like it when they take away my primary sleeping spot.  I mean, really, who gets up before the crack of 3:30 pm anyways.  When the bed is closed before I'm ready to be up, I have to take matters into my own hands, er paws, and create a comfy place to sleep.  I did that today.  I pushed the pillows around and made myself a nice little nest.  It was pretty good -- not perfect because I wasn't able to sleep under the covers, but it suited my needs for the day.

I'm going on a walk!

Not this weekend, but the next, I'm going on a 5K walk.  Not exactly sure what 5K means in dog-steps, but I think it's going to be a long walk.  Luckily, mommy and daddy and I have been training by going for walks in the evening.  The 5K is a walk to raise money for the local animal shelter.  Even though I've never been to the local animal shelter, I still think it's pretty important to help out the dogs (and cats) that don't have mommies and daddies and are living there.  Mommy promised me a special treat if I make it the whole walk, so I can't wait!

If you'd like to make a donation in support of my walk, you can do it on-line at http://www.firstgiving.com/kariwallace.  And if you'd like to send me some ice cream for after the walk, I'd like that too.

Puppy Jail

Every night, mommy and daddy make me go in my crate while they eat dinner.  (Full disclosure -- I did not make this decision and have no say in it).  I'm not happy about this.  Especially now since they moved my crate.  Daddy had some friends over on Sunday and he moved my crate into the living room and now it is sitting closer to where mommy and daddy eat dinner.  So I have to watch them eating dinner through the bars of my crate, unable to do anything about it.  How upsetting!  The only thing I can do is look sad and hope that I will get something yummy to eat after they get done with dinner.  Luckily my plan always works!

The Prince and the Pea

As I'm sure all of my loyal readers know, sometimes one bed just isn't enough. Even when using two, I could still feel the hard floor underneath.

After school snack

Today when mommy and daddy picked me up after school, I sat in my seat like a good boy. Because I was such a good boy, I got to eat an after school snack on my way home. It was delicious!

My new harness

I got a new harness last night. I'm not really happy about it. Mommy says I have to wear this new one because I can back out of my other one too easily. Like when we're in the car and I don't want to sit in my seat. Or when we're camping and mommy tries to tie me to a tree. This one is a lot bigger and it covers my whole chest. When mommy first put it on me, I had to rest on my back for a while because it makes me too top heavy. Bummer.

What's for dinner Mommy?

So last night mommy spent a lot of time making dinner and, as usual, I sat at her feet waiting for some tasty bite of goodness to drop down for me. Unfortunately, mommy was pretty careful last night, and I didn't get anything good. Bummer!

Fun Saturday!

I had such a fun day!  In the morning, mommy and daddy went shopping and I had to stay home and hold down the fort.  (That wasn't the fun part.)  But when they got home, we went to a doggy festival!  There were so many other doggies there, I wasn't able to greet each one.  And everyone made a big deal over me and gave me lots of tasty treats.  Plus, I got a cool swag bag with lots of samples of food and treats.  And a tennis ball.  And I got to meet this really tall dog that kind of smelled like a human.  What's up with that?  Since I had so much excitement today, I'm probably just going to sleep the rest of the evening.

I love my rawhide!

As you can probably tell, I'm totally in love with rawhides. I get one every night before bedtime! I can hardly wait until bedtime to sink my teeth (and my tongue) into the delicious goodness. I get a new one every night, but sometimes Daddy tries to trick me with a used rawhide. There's nothing worse than a used rawhide. So I make sure to inspect the rawhide carefully before I accept it. Mmmm...deliciousness!

I'm not a model

So tonight mommy was trying to take some portrait-like shots of me and I was not cooperating.  She had me pose with a white sheet as a background and then called my name.  Apparently I was supposed to look at the camera and look cute.  I really don't like being told what to do, so instead I decided to look away, close my eyes, and stick my tongue out at her.  That will show mommy for trying to make me be cute on demand!

I'm adorable!

Sometimes I even outdo myself in cuteness! I had a relaxing day today. I had to recover from my hard weekend spent outside roughing it. I spent most of the day sleeping in mommy and daddy's king-sized bed until the down comforter. Ahhhh....I love being back in civilization! In the afternoon, I wandered into the office to check on daddy to make sure he was doing his work. Then in the evening, daddy and I went out to meet mommy across the street from the metro, like always. In all, a pretty normal, relaxing day. Exactly what I needed after my hard weekend.

So happy to be home

I guess I was bad or something 'cause mommy and daddy decided to take me and go spend the night in the woods in a piece of fabric without heat.  Yesterday started out okay.  Mommy and daddy packed the car and I climbed into my seat.

When we got to the park, it was actually kind of fun.  I got to spend some time outside, smelling things and playing in the leaves.
Mommy and daddy put up a fabric shelter-like thing, which I thought was perfect for taking a nice afternoon nap in.  They also made a fire and cooked some dinner.  After dinner, we roasted marshmallows.  I love marshmallows.  After a while, mommy said something about going to bed and I thought she meant we would be getting in the car to go home.

Little did I know that the fabric-like thing was our bed for the night.  It was windy and cold (almost near freezing) and it rained during the night.  Next morning I declined to eat breakfast and instead decided I was going to sit in the car and wait until mommy and daddy decided to go home.  Once, daddy tried to get me to come out of the car and sit by the fire.  I refused.
All in all, I've decided I'm not a big fan of this sleeping outside thing.  I like my bed, my couch, and my down comforter.  I'm happy to be home.
