Christmas presents

Yes, I know that I'm really behind on my blogging. It's all mommy's fault. She was running a couple of games all the time and that slowed down our computer network so that I couldn't blog. Then daddy got a new router which meant that everything (including mommy's camera that automatically uploads new pictures) had to be reset. I think, though, that we're back in business now.

It's a little late now, but I had an excellent Christmas! I got lots of yummy treats. Plus I got to open my stocking all by myself! Pretty cool, huh?

So tired!

This morning mommy got up early.  And so I had to go outside early.  As I've mentioned several times before, it's cold out.  So I was both tired and cold when I got back inside.  Luckily, daddy was still in bed, so I could cuddle up under the covers next to daddy.

I'm pretty lucky that I get to sleep in the middle.  With my own pillow.

Workin' Hard at the Office

Ferb and I have been working very hard at daddy's work.  Look at how much we're both concentrating.  Unfortunately, Ferb got in earlier than I did, so he got the bed and I had to sit on the blanket.  It's really a bummer that Ferb gets up earlier than I do.  He gets in before I do and I'm stuck with the not-so-good workspace.

Cat in the Bag

You know how some people have a toy called a Jack-in-the-Box?  (I know, I think they're kind of scary, too).  Well, I have a younger brother that I call Cat-in-the-Bag.  Ferb likes to lie in plastic bags.  It's kind of weird, isn't it?  I think so.

Santa!

Over the weekend, I got to go see Santa.  I was a little concerned before we got there because of the whole hat incident earlier.  But he didn't seem to remember. I told him how I've been a very good boy this year (I figured what he didn't know couldn't hurt him).  Then he asked me what I wanted for Christmas.  I told him that I wanted world peace.  Just kidding -- I told him I wanted raw hides.  Then we took a picture of us together.

Before we left, I got a cool gift bag with a toy and some food.  Lots of fun.  When I got home, though, I was exhausted and just had to take a nap.

Brrrrr!

It's been cold here the last couple of days!  (I guess I shouldn't complain -- there isn't any snow!)  And mommy and daddy sometimes keep the house a little too cold for me.  Luckily, I'm an expert at tucking myself under the covers.  Here I am on the couch the other day, all cuddled up and ready for a nap.

Santa's hat

When mommy and daddy took out the box of Christmas decorations, I found lots of fun stuff to play with in it.  Here's one thing.  Mommy says it's Santa's hat.  I'm not sure why Santa left it at my house.  All I know is that I like to play with the hat!  Unfortunately, I've also pulled a lot of the fur off of it.  Mommy says that Santa isn't going to be happy with me.

Putting up the Christmas Tree

When we got back from our Thanksgiving trip, mommy, daddy, Ferb, and I put up the Christmas tree in our living room.  Ferb didn't live with us last year, so he didn't know how mommy and daddy put a tree in our house.  He was very interested, though, and investigated it.

Actually, we both were pretty interested in smelling it.  It doesn't smell like the trees outside.  It kind of smells like plastic.  And dust.

Both Ferb and I helped straighten out the branches and put it up.

Then we all had dinner and sat around looking at the tree.  Fun times.

Thanksgiving

I know.  I haven't posted in a long time.  Mommy was having problems with her camera not transferring pictures to the computer.  Turns out she had to update the software.  So now we're all good.  And I got lots of posting to catch up on.  First, Thanksgiving.  We went to visit daddy's family near Pittsburgh and had lots of fun!  We stayed with my Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark.  Aunt Heather and I have lots in common.

Here's me.

Here's Aunt Heather.

See what I mean?  We were both hiding.  I was trying to sneak up on the food.  I'm not exactly sure what Aunt Heather was trying to do.  Pretty cool, huh?

Working on my Tan!

Over the last few days, the weather has been really nice.  Really sunny and bright.  Ferb and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather.  Inside, of course.

We've been sunbathing in the dining room.  There's this really nice spot right near the window where the sun shines in during the afternoon.  And we both like to hang out there.  Ferb's been working on getting some color on his belly, but he's still pretty pasty.  Me, I'm getting nice and golden brown.

'Scuse me

Daddy had to do some work today -- he's been really busy all week on an important project.  I figured I would also put in a few hours at the office and help him out.  What did I find when I arrived at work this afternoon?  Someone was in my spot!  I tried to get him to move because Baxter doesn't share.  He wouldn't move.  Apparently Ferb doesn't share either.

Neither of us were particularly happy with the end result.  Needless to say, not much work occurred.

Please Can I Keep Him, Daddy?

As daddy and I were taking out the trash last night, I discovered something very interesting.  Someone was throwing away a giant stuffed animal!  Can you believe it?  Who throws something valuable like that away?

I thought that I should take him home and begged and pleaded with daddy to help me.  Daddy said that he was bigger than my toy box and so I couldn't have him.  Bummer.  I think it would have been a lot of fun to have Herman (that's what I named him) in our house.

Cheese Snack Time!

Instead of (or sometimes in addition to) a coffee break, Daddy's company has cheese snack break during the day.  Ferb and I have to sit patiently on the floor and wait for daddy to dole out the cheese snacks.

Happy Halloween!

I went to a Howl-o-Ween party Friday night.  I had a great time -- got to trick-or-treat for some yummy doggie treats at the trick-or-treat table.  Although I stared longingly at the cheese table, mommy wouldn't let me have any cheese.  She said it was for the humans, not the puppies.  Bummer.

I also ran into a few of my friends at the party and got to play with them.  Good thing my bee costume didn't hold me back.  Unfortunately, I didn't win the costume contest, but I had a great time anyways.

I've got a Tweet for You!

As my loyal readers probably know, I haven't been so good about tweeting.  That's all going to change now.  Mommy bought me puppy tweets so now I can tweet all by myself!  I don't have to rely on mommy to translate what I'm saying and actually type it out.

Here I am wearing the transmitter.  It's got a microphone on it and it senses my every move.  If you look to the right there (go ahead, I'll wait) you'll see my recent twitter updates.  Pretty cool, huh?

New Furniture

Mommy and daddy got new living room furniture over the weekend.  Though I'm sad to see my old couch go bye-bye, I'm pretty excited about the new one.

Ferb, on the other hand, is a big fan of the rug.  He likes laying on it.

Vote for me!

I'm a pageant dog now.  Mommy entered me in a costume contest at my school and I need your help to win it.  All you need to do is go here:  http://doggyblogging.com/whiteflint/2010/10/21/2010-howl-o-ween-photo-contest-vote-now/ and leave a comment in the comments section with my name.  That's it!  Thanks, everyone.

My New Office

Today mommy and daddy did some renovations to daddy's office.  The renovations mean that I have a new work station.

Good news it that I'm closer to the printer now.  Bad news is that my coworker downstairs is incredible nosy and just will not leave me alone!

Easter Egg Hunt, part two

Today mommy and daddy were pulling out the fireplace mantel to get rid of it and guess what I found behind it!  Give up?

An Easter egg!  Mommy and daddy had an Easter egg hunt for me for Easter and I guess we didn't find this egg.  I got to chase it around the house and play with it!  How fun!

Where are you going, mommy?

Mommy and daddy are going out of town tonight to celebrate mommy's birthday.  Mommy packed a bag for me too with my bed, blanket, and my toy, but daddy says that I'm spending the night at my school.  Mommy says it's a special slumber party with my school friends, but I think I'd rather go with them.  Maybe I can fit myself in mommy's bag and she won't notice me....

Ferb the Water Cat

As everyone probably knows, I'm not a big fan of water.  In fact it was raining outside this morning and I objected to having to go outside.  When mommy disregarded my objection (and I had to go outside to go potty anyways), I had to rub myself all over the carpet to dry off sufficiently.  My brother Ferb, on the other hand, loves to play in water.

Every morning he waits for mommy to get out of the shower so that he can go in and catch water drops.  I don't get the intrigue.  Water is wet.  And it's not fun to be wet.  Ferb seems to like it, though.

Just Chillin'

I had a pretty busy weekend. Mommy and daddy did lots of stuff around the house and, of course, I had to help. And we went to the dogpark this afternoon. I hadn't been there in so long! So this evening, I decided I was just going to chill out on the couch this evening. Ferb had other plans. He kept trying to get me to play with him. So I sat on the couch and looked at him disapprovingly.

Making a Wish

After mommy came home from work tonight (and daddy and I met her near the metro), we all went for a walk.  Well, not Ferb.  He doesn't really like to walk on a leash.  We stopped at the fountain at restaurant near our house so that I could make a wish (mommy threw my penny in for me).  I wished for cheese.

On the Lake

Now that the wedding is over, we get to have fun!  Yesterday, Grandpa Mike took everyone out in his boat for a ride around the lake.  Since there's so many people, there were two shifts.  Since I'm such a great guy, I got to go both times.  I love riding on the boat!  It's so much fun to feel the wind through my fur and watch the geese flying overhead.

We came home from the lake this afternoon.  I slept most of the ride home and went right to bed once we got home.  I was so tired because there was so much cool stuff to do over the weekend and I didn't get my normal 18 to 20 hours of sleep per day.  I've got a lot of catching up to do over the next couple of days...

The wedding

So I found out what a ring bearer is last night.  It's not as cool as a bear.  I dressed up in a tuxedo and had to wear a pillow on my back.  This is me when mommy told me about the pillow that was going to go on my back.  It was during the party where everyone (including me) was dressed up and eating cheese.  After the cheese party, Uncle Mark tied the pillow to my back and walked me down the hill to the lake.

Mommy and daddy stood on a rock by the lake -- mommy was in her white dress and daddy was dressed in a tuxedo like me.  The guy in the shirt with the funny collar said some words and then I had to walk up to mommy and daddy and bring them the rings that were attached to the pillow on my back.

After mommy and daddy took their rings off the pillow, I had to go back by Uncle Mark and lay down again.  (I thought I should stay with mommy and daddy since this was my part, but Uncle Mark disagreed.)  After the ceremony, we had dinner and cake.  That was my favorite part.  Mommy said I was a good boy during the ceremony 'cause I sat by Uncle Mark and chewed a stick during the ceremony.

I'm a bear!

For this wedding thing that mommy has been talking about I have to be a bear.  Well, mommy said I have to be a ring bearer, but I don't know what that is.  So I've decided to be a bear instead.  I've been working on my growl face.  I practiced last night on my Great-Uncle Randy when he tried to pick me up by my harness and take me away from his dinner.  I don't think he was happy.

This morning, mommy dressed me in this shirt and she and daddy have been really busy putting flowers and candles all over the house.  Everyone keeps telling me how cute I look and how I have to be on my best behavior.  I heard something about Uncle Mark escorting me down the aisle and something about a pillow tied to my back, but I'm not exactly sure what that's about.  My back seems to be a funny place for a pillow -- how will I sleep on it?  I guess I'll find out later.

A big house with everyone I know!

I was totally right about us going somewhere!  (and it wasn't camping!)  After daddy came out of the store, we got back into the car.  I had to sit on mommy's lap since there was a bunch of flowers in my seat.  We drove for a little while while I napped and we arrived at this really big house on a lake!  I remember us being here before -- a few months ago -- but I didn't get to get out.  This time I got to get out of the car!  The house is so big it has stairs inside it!  There's an upstairs and a downstairs and a main level where the kitchen and the couch!  I lost count of how many beds there are for Baxter to sleep in!

Last night I had a great time running around this big house smelling everywhere.  I got to hang out on the deck, which is kind of like our balcony at home, but a whole lot bigger.  And there's chipmunks everywhere!

The best, though, was this morning.  I thought mommy and daddy and I were just going to stay in this really big house, but this morning the doorbell rang and I ran to the door.  Daddy opened it and guess who was there?  Aunt Sara and Uncle John!  Oh my goodness, on my goodness!  I was so excited that they found me at this strange place that I did puppy runs all over the living room!

Then, throughout the day all the people who know me came to the house -- my Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark, my Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Mike, Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ray and Great-Aunt Becky and Great-Uncle Randy (I visited them last year at their house in Wisconsin!)  Each time someone new came, I got to show them my house.  I raced up and down the stairs!  It was so much fun.

Mommy says that there is going to be a wedding tomorrow and I have to dress up and be on my best behavior, but I don't know what that means.  I'll let you know later.

Going someplace

We're going somewhere.  I know because mommy and daddy loaded all kinds of things into the car.  I was a little concerned last night when mommy put all my favorite things into a suitcase and closed up my crate.  But this morning, they put my suitcase, my crate, and me into the car.  Right now we're stopped at Costco.  I can't go in here 'cause there is no puppies allowed, but mommy and I are hanging outside waiting for daddy to come out of the store.  I'll update you later on what happens.

Rawhides!

Guess what I learned last night?  Give up?  How to open the plastic bin that has my chew treats in it!  I'm so excited!  This means that I can get myself chews anytime I want.  And I did.  All night.  When mommy discovered my new talent this morning she seemed less than happy.  She collected all the chews I took out during the night in a big pile and told me that she was going to have to lock the bin.

Okay, so maybe I did go a little overboard during the first night.  And there is a couple that I didn't really chew on, just tasted and decided I liked something better.  But still, I think it's pretty cool.

Labor Day

Now I understand why it's called Labor Day. Ferb and I certainly did Labor today. Daddy was installing some organizer thing in the cabinets and Ferb and I had to help.

Ferb had to inspect the inside of the cabinet to make sure that it was suitable.

I helped daddy open the packages.

I also read the instructions to daddy.
All in all, a very busy day for both Ferb and I. It's a good thing for daddy that we're such good helpers.

Bad Baxter

I was a bad boy today. I tried to sneak some treats, but I accidentally knocked over the whole treat bucket. Naturally mommy and daddy heard the noise and found out I was helping myself to snack time. They got mad. I'm not supposed to help myself to treats. I'm on a "diet", especially since the vet called me "wide" last week.
This is my "I'm sorry mommy and daddy. Please don't be mad at me anymore" face.
